Venison - Mock Chicken Fried Steak

Venison - Mock Chicken Fried Steak

1 1/2 lbs lean ground venison, crumbled
1 1/2 cups butter-flavored cracker crumbs
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
3/4 tsp seasoned salt
3 tbs vegetable oil, divided
In large mixing bowl, combine venison, onion, and salt.
Shape mixture into six 1/2 inch-thick patties.
Place crumbs in shallow dish. In second dish, combine egg and milk.
Dip patties first in egg mixture, then dredge in crumbs to coat.
Heat 1 1/2 Tbs oil in 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
Cook 3 patties for 4 to 6 minutes, or until browned and meat is no longer pink inside turning patties over once.
Remove patties from skillet. Set aside and keep warm.
Repeat with remaining patties and oil.
Enjoy with fried or mashed potatoes, gravy and your favorite side dishes!

Easter day 2

We cannot study the death of Christ without studying the great sufferings He endured so that we might have life everlasting. First of all, after His betrayal by Judas, Christ was taken and tried illegally six times.
Look at three of these trials today, and find the judge and the response of the people.

12 days to Easter

Some time ago my mom did an Easter study for the 12 days leading up to Easter. We are staring with day one of that little study today.

Without Jesus Christ's death and resurrection-we would have no hope of heaven. Our Lord knew in detail all that was about to happen to Him. He knew that through these events, He was to fulfill His unique purpose for living on earth. Today, let's look at four specific examples that show the foreknowledge He had of these events.

Often we use what should be beautiful as weapons. Let's use our words today to lift someone up. Let's not make a beautiful thing ugly and hurtful.

Job

We have talked a bit about glorying in our infirmities. This does not mean that you are going to be happy all the way through a trial. Don't get too down on yourself if you are not the happiest person in town when you are struggling. God understands our discouragement when we are hurting. If you read the first few chapters of Job you will see that he got really discouraged. There is suffering involved in trials. Just don't live your life in that state of mind. There should be an inner joy and hope but it is not always going to shine through. Don't feel like a failure and make yourself feel even worse because you are struggling. We all struggle and God understands that. It is when we quit that becomes the problem.

Psalm 95:1

O COME, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Let's sing a song to the Lord today. If you have a hymn book at home go through it and find a song to sing to the Lord (out loud). I am going to add this practice to my devotions. I usually have a song in my heart, but to sit down and sing a song right to the Lord is quite a blessing.

Mexican Rice

Mexican Rice

3 tablespoons butter
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 cups chicken broth
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat and add rice. Cook, stirring constantly until the rice is browned slightly. While rice is cooking, sprinkle with salt and cumin.
Stir in onions and cook until tender. Stir in tomato sauce and chicken broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
