Devotion: Psalm 91:4-5

Psalm 91:4-5
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day:

This chapter is such a comforting one. God holds us under his wings. There is no safer place to be. We can rest knowing God is watching over us and our family.

Devotion - Ephesians 1:6

Devotion- Psalm 64:10

Psalm 64:10
The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

True happiness comes from the Lord. The world cannot give it to you, the world's devices cannot give it to you. Trust God...you can be happy in any situation as long as you are trusting the Lord.

Devotion - Genesis 49:22-24

Genesis 49:22-24
Joseph [is] a fruitful bough, [even] a fruitful bough by a well; [whose] branches run over the wall:

The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot [at him], and hated him:

But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty [God] of Jacob; (from thence [is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

The same hands that created the universe are ready and willing to make you strong and help you deal with whatever you are facing today. God didn't stop the archers for Joseph, he strengthened Joseph. God may not take away your trial, but He will most definitely help you through it.

Devotion: Psalm 31:23-24

Psalm 31:23-24
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

My strength cometh from the Lord, praise the Lord. I could not make it one day without Him. Look not to the world for your reward. Be faithful to God and He will take care of rewards. I would much rather be rewarded by God than man!

Devotion: Psalm 62:7-8

Psalm 62:7-8
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

When we have problems we often tend to talk to eachother about it but God wants us to pour out our hearts to Him. He, after all is the one who can help. Let him be your refuge and strength. Talk to Him about your struggles.

Daily Devotion - I Cor. 6:20

I Cor. 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

This is a well known verse, but we usually focus on the body. The previous verse talks about your body being the temple of the Holy Ghost, but often we stop there. The end of this verse says to glorify God in your spirit as well. How is your spirit today? The mother usually sets the spirit of the home...is it glorifying to God? Lets have a sweet spirit today.

Daily Devotion - Psalm 37:5-7

Psalm 37:5-7
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

If we are a child of God, He wants the best for us. We can take heart in our trials that He has our best interest in mind. Just rest in the Lord and let Him work. Keep your eyes on him and not the prosperity or lack of trials of others.

Daily Devotion - Jude 20-22

Jude 20-22
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

Want to make a difference? No matter what you are doing for the Lord, the foundation of your ministry should be your faith, bathed in prayer, carried out with compassion.

Daily Devotion - Psalm 95

Psalm 95:1-6
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

For the LORD [is] a great God, and a great King above all gods.

In his hand [are] the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills [is] his also.

The sea [is] his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry [land].

O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

Today, lets focus what a great God we serve. Be sure to sing praises with thanksgiving today!

Daily Devotion - Job 16:1-7

Job 16:1-7
1 Then Job answered and said,

2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters [are] ye all.

3 Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?

4 I also could speak as ye [do]: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.

5 [But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage [your grief].

6 Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and [though] I forbear, what am I eased?

7 But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

We are to be bearing one another's burdens. Are your words comforting and uplifting or are they like Job's friends and just hurt more. Let's be uplifting and helpful to someone today.

Colossians 1:10

Colossians 1:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

This should be our daily goal. We should never get to a point where we feel we have attained all. We need to constantly be learning how to please God more making sure our lives are fruitful.

Recipe: Onion Roasted Potatoes

I just tried this recipe yesterday. It is sooooo easy and really good. My son who does not like potatoes ate them!

1 envelope onion soup mix
4 med potatoes (cut into large chunks)
1/3 cup olive oil

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. In a 13X9 inch baking or roasting pan, combine all ingredients. Bake, stirring occasionally, 35 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden brown.

(I used 6 or so big red potatoes. I cut them into small chunks so they would cook faster, it only took about 20 minutes)

I Peter 1:3-5

I Peter 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Praise the Lord for the blessed hope that His resurrection brought us. Hope in Heaven, hope to see our saved loved ones that have already made it to Heaven. Thank God that he conquered death for us.

Happy Easter!

On Sunday morning, three days after the death and burial of Christ, some women went very early, as soon as it was light, to the tomb in the garden. One of these women was Mary Magdalene, another was also named Mary and another was name Salome. They were bringing some more fragrant spices to place in the wrappings upon the body of Jesus. As they went, they said to each other. "Who will roll away for us the great stone at the door of the cave?" But when they came to the cave, they saw that the seal was broken, the stone was rolled away and the soldiers who had been on guard were gone. There was the tomb of Jesus open! They did not know that before they came to the tomb, there had been an earthquake and that an angel had come down from heaven and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. The soldiers had already fled. Looking into the tomb, they saw that the body of Jesus was not there. But, sitting at each end of the tomb, they saw two young men, clothed in long white garments. Their faces shone, and seeing them, the women were filled with fear.
Matthew 28:5-6 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Venison - Mock Chicken Fried Steak

For those of you that eat venison, here is a recipe that I tried yesterday. I thought it turned out very good. It is from this website: http://www.backwoodsbound.com/zdeer.html

Venison - Mock Chicken Fried Steak

1 1/2 lbs lean ground venison, crumbled
1 1/2 cups butter-flavored cracker crumbs
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
3/4 tsp seasoned salt
3 tbs vegetable oil, divided
In large mixing bowl, combine venison, onion, and salt.
Shape mixture into six 1/2 inch-thick patties.
Place crumbs in shallow dish. In second dish, combine egg and milk.
Dip patties first in egg mixture, then dredge in crumbs to coat.
Heat 1 1/2 Tbs oil in 12 inch skillet over medium heat.
Cook 3 patties for 4 to 6 minutes, or until browned and meat is no longer pink inside turning patties over once.
Remove patties from skillet. Set aside and keep warm.
Repeat with remaining patties and oil.
Enjoy with fried or mashed potatoes, gravy and your favorite side dishes!

Easter day 2

We cannot study the death of Christ without studying the great sufferings He endured so that we might have life everlasting. First of all, after His betrayal by Judas, Christ was taken and tried illegally six times.
Look at three of these trials today, and find the judge and the response of the people.
VERSES WHO WAS THE JUDGE? WHAT WAS THE RESPONSE?

12 days to Easter

Some time ago my mom did an Easter study for the 12 days leading up to Easter. We are staring with day one of that little study today.

Without Jesus Christ's death and resurrection-we would have no hope of heaven. Our Lord knew in detail all that was about to happen to Him. He knew that through these events, He was to fulfill His unique purpose for living on earth. Today, let's look at four specific examples that show the foreknowledge He had of these events.
VERSES EVIDENCE OF CHRIST'S FOREKNOWLEDGE
Luke 18:31-34
Luke 22:7-13
Luke 22:31-34, 54-62
John 13:21-27; 18:1-5
