Devotion: Psalm 103:10-12

Psalm 103:10-12
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, [so] great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Thank God He does not deal with us as we deserve but is merciful. Praise the Lord for a forgiving God. If only we would show that same forgiveness to others...

Devotion: Philippians 3:3

Philippians 3:3
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in the flesh.

This one verse tells us 3 very important things we should be aware of on a daily basis.
1. Worship God in the spirit
2. Rejoice in Christ Jesus
3. Don't trust your flesh

Devotion - I John 4:11-12

I John 4:11-12
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

We can let others see God through us by loving them and caring for them. What an awesome responsibility we have. It is often tough to love as God loves, He loves the unloveable, but with His grace we can do it.

Devotion: Psalm 46:1-3

God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
[Though] the waters thereof roar [and] be troubled, [though] the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

There is so much craziness going on in the world right now. I am so glad that I am able to have peace through Christ. We know that God is in control and whatever happens here will not affect our eternity. This is temporary, Praise the Lord.

Devotion - Philippians 4:6-7

Philippians 4:6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The Lord wants to take our cares and turn them into peace. The Lord wants to hear your cares but we need to come to Him in the right spirit; not whining but Thankful for what he has done for us. Let God give you a sound mind and peaceful heart.

Devotion: John 16:33

John 16:33
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

The Lord knows that we all face tribulation and will give us peace through it. Just remember that whatever we face is temporary. One day Jesus will return and all our trials will be over!

Devotion - Colossians 2:6-7

Colossians 2:6-7
As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

We need to make sure our life and our beliefs are founded on the Bible. If you don't know why you believe what you believe you are going to be more easily influenced by false doctrines and compromise.

Devotion - Matthew 7:12

Matthew 7:12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

The Christian life is mostly about other people. We need to be constantly aware of how we are treating people. Is it how you would like to be treated? Is it pleasing to the Lord?

Devotion - John 4:24

John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We need to remember that we must worship God His way. So often we try to worship God our way. People are making up new ways to "worship" all the time. Recently I saw a dowel rod interpretive praise thing. They were waving around dowel rods and that was supposed to be worship. If it is not God's way it is not worship. We have to go to God on his terms, not ours.

Devotion - Proverbs 8:36

Proverbs 8:36
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

When people sin against you (if they haven't yet, they will), don't let it destroy you. They are hurting themselves. They may not realize it but they are destroying themselves spiritually. Give your hurts to God and sin will have its way with those that hurt you.
Lets be careful how we treat each other. When you sin against others, you are sinning against yourself.

Devotion - Galatians 4:7

Galatians 4:7 & 9
Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ...
But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

It amazes me when Christians turn back to the world. God saved us from the bondage of sin and the world. Why then do we long for the things of the world? We that are saved are heirs of God, we have an eternal home in Heaven. It should not bother us to be set apart from this temperal world.

Devotion - Galations 6:1-2

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

We need to help one another. So often when someone falls we keep them down. Let's lift each other up. Find someone to encourage today.

Devotion - Psalm 107

In Psalm 107 there is a verse that repeats itself several times. It appears first in verse 8...
"Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"
This verse appears identically 3 more times in this chapter; verses 15,21, and 31. If God put this verse 4 times in one chapter, I think it is an important verse. If we would praise the Lord continually for what He has done for us, maybe we will not be so quick to forget as the Children of Israel did in the wilderness and as we so often do.
My Pastor mentioned not too long ago that we spend weeks (or longer) praying for something then when our prayer is answered we thank God once and move on. Wouldn't it be great if we spend more time praising God afterward than the time we spent begging God.

Devotion - Isaiah 26:3-4

Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

This is another well known verse but it holds so true for me right now so I thought I would share it today. No matter what is going on around us God can give us peace. It is in some of the toughest situations in my life that I have had the greatest peace. God is so good.

Devotion: Matthew 11:28-30

Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke [is] easy, and my burden is light.

I love these verses but a little comment in there I have been overlooking. Verse 29 says "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;". How well do we know the Lord. We need to learn of Him. Not how much we know about the Bible, how much do you know about God personally. We take time to learn about those we love, we want to know everything about them. Take time to get to know God on a personal level and you will find rest in being with Him.

Devotion: Psalm 71:8

Psalm 71:8
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.
This is a great daily prayer. Our mouth is often filled with things that don't please the Lord and often cause us much trouble. I want to please God with my mouth. What better things are there to flow out of the mouth than praise to the Lord.

Devotion - Psalm 34:4-8

Psalm 34:4-8
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the LORD heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.

God wants us to have peace in our lives. He even sent angels to watch over us. We don't need to worry about things that we cannot change. Rest in the arms of the Lord and let Him give you peace.
