I had never heard of putting noodles in chili until moving to Wisconsin. I am sure others do it but I have heard it is a Wisconsin thing. Here is my chili recipe. It is altered a bit from the original version. It is super simple.
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1 can kidney beans
1 can chili beans
3 cans tomato soup
1 can diced tomatoes with green chilis
1/2 tsp cumin
1 T chili powder
1 tsp minced garlic
elbow noodles (about 3/4 to 1 pound I guess...I just eyeball it)
Cook ground beef. Put beef and all other ingredients except the noodles in a crockpot. Cook on low for 4-6 hours. Cook noodles and add to chili. I do this at the end but if you like the noodles to absorb more of the flavor you can continue cooking for a half and hour or so. I would rather have the noodles be more firm so I serve right after adding the noodles.
